Let's talk details... The base model will have a 261 hp V6 with five-speed auto. Need a V-8? You've got one in the GT model, pumping out 362 horses through a six-speed auto. A six-speed manual will even be available a few months after launch, which looks like early next year as a 2008 model.
And how about these bells and whistles standard on both models: 18-inch aluminum wheels, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and StabiliTrak, four-wheel independent suspension with full-function traction control, dual exhaust, six air bags, XM radio, OnStar. Yes, those are STANDARD features.
Pricing hasn't been announced, but the V6-powered base model is probably going to start in the mid-$20s.
The G8 is the latest creation of GM's new rear-wheel drive global engineering "skunk-works." You'll be seeing several additional vehicles based on these exciting new developments on the road in North America in the coming years.
But, the Pontiac G8 is the first one here and we've only got less than a year to wait before giving it a spin. | Apparently some dude got the numbers mixed up and millions were tricked into thinking it was a whopping 361hp V6 instead of 261.
All of that is standard?!?! Cool.
Interesting new emblem...
Commercial Preview: G8 Is already on Pontiac's website.
